Director of Customer and Product Marketing

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Director of Customer & Product Marketing to join our team! This position collaborates with members across the organization to ensure our product positioning and customer communications are relevant, enticing, and cut through market noise. Reporting to the SVP of Marketing, this position will be responsible for ensuring the development and consistent execution of research, positioning, audience engagement, and sales enablement activities that support the adoption of our solutions by schools.

Position Description:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Market research – understand key markets to target, conduct market research and intelligence, define market segmentation and buyer personas
  • Competitive research – monitor changes to the competitive landscape at a macro-level, adjusting positioning and messaging where required
  • Positioning – develop positioning for offerings to ensure consistent and differentiated messages that map to buyer need, personas, and influencers along a client lifecycle 
  • Pricing – analyze and identify opportunities to optimize pricing based on market conditions, competitor trends, plus customer price tolerance and buying behaviors
  • Product releases – work with cross-functional teams in client services, product management, marketing and sales to ensure the alignment and flawless execution of go-to-market strategies that identify routes to market, content offerings, pricing strategy, sales and partner materials
  • Sales enablement – collaborate with sales enablement team members to develop materials that enable teams to sell and deliver new offerings
  • Customer communications – own the lifecycle marketing strategy to ensure customer are engaged and increase usage
  • Cross-sell and upsell campaigns – leverage product enhancements and integrations to drive upsell and cross sell lead generation
  • Leadership – Manage two direct reports focused on product marketing and customer marketing, fostering professional growth, driving accountability, and aligning individual goals with broader organizational objectives
  • Internal communication – Interact with business and operational executives to gather insights and feedback, drive strategic planning, and share back relevant execution plans
  • Other duties as needed

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 5-6 years of product marketing experience preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of leadership experience preferred
  • Experience in private/independent K12 schools is preferred
  • Ability to complete research, market analysis, and competitor analysis
  • Strong communication skills and ability to message complex topics to a variety of stakeholders (customers and internal teams alike)
  • Ability to solve problems with detailed, or sometimes ambiguous, information
  • Proven track record building successful relationships and partnerships at all organizational levels, internally, externally, intra and interdepartmentally. Strong client focus with exceptional collaborative and influencing skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Extending viewing of computer screens.
  • Some overnight travel required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Spends time at a computer workstation and desk
  • Moves throughout department or other locations to access or exchange information
  • May involve carrying loads up to 50 lbs. and being able to remain in a stationary position
  • May involve lowering oneself to file, and reaching, twisting or turning
  • Involves handling office materials, typing, writing and other tasks that require manual dexterity
