As an Upstream Senior Manager Global Product Marketing for our Safe Patient Handling portfolio, you have lots of ideas grounded in research and knowledge of the marketplace. At Baxter, our goal for Safe Patient Handling is two-fold: Safely help patients get moving earlier and often and reduce the risk of injury for caregivers by helping them avoid high-risk patient handling tasks. To do this, we partner with healthcare providers, architects, and construction contractors around the world to plan and design custom lifting environments to help make every step safer. Our extensive portfolio of overhead, mobile and sit-to-stand lifts — along with 300+ accessories — is designed for care environments from pediatric to bariatric, and from critical care to rehabilitation.

This Senior Product Marketing Manager is an upstream global marketing role that plans, organizes, and controls the Safe Patient Handling product line from conceptual stages, through development to launch and manages product life cycle - including discontinuation. The individual will independently lead and coordinate cross-functional teams in a matrix organization to drive profitable portfolio growth. This individual will also support the downstream marketing needs for the U.S. commercial market.

What you'll be doing

Global Product Management of Baxter Safe Patient Handling Portfolio

  • Develop product, cross-product, hybrid, and application roadmaps

  • Synchronization and prioritization of R&D and Sustaining activities with Product Management team

  • Create and monitor business cases for New Product Development (NPD) projects

  • Create regulatory strategy with partners in Regional Marketing Product Marketing and Regulatory Affairs

  • Prepare make-or-buy decisions to ensure complete product/portfolio strategy

  • Determination of user needs and creation of User Needs Definition (UND) and Use Specification documents

  • Prepare and evaluate the product / technology value proposition, defining key features & benefits for Marketing

  • Continuous evaluation of user needs and clinical trends to define products and enhancements over the product lifecycle via regular on-site customer visits

  • Responsibility for product quality post-launch e.g. monitoring of complaints, Post-Market Surveillance, CAPAs

  • Monitoring of product components for obsolescence or end of life and proposal for implementation of countermeasures

  • Monitoring of product manufacturing costs and identification of trends, opportunities to reduce costs and countermeasures for rising costs

  • Develop and track key business performance indicators to identify necessary countermeasure to achieving business/market goals. Responsible to execute countermeasures

Market & Competition Analysis and Product Positioning

  • Lead/oversee the development of overarching strategic plan for market launches, sales product training, messaging and positioning in coordination with commercial and marketing leadership.

  • Research and analyze business information to develop an understanding of the industry and competitive environment; stay in tune with any market forces or business drivers that would be influential to future markets.

  • Collaborate with key customers, sales, services and market research to define marketing level product/service requirements, including business value and prioritization of potential features and benefits.

Development and Implementation of Product Strategies

  • Prepare portfolio strategy to achieve growth and profitability goals aligned with the corporate strategy

  • Select and present portfolio segmentation in consideration of technology and platform strategies

  • Develop technology roadmaps together with R&D organization

  • Assess market potential for the right segment/targets, develop strategic business plan capitalizing on future market needs and opportunities

  • Identify portfolio gaps as potential growth opportunities

  • Define clinical research requirements to support the roadmap and product launches

Product Life Cycle Management

  • Lifecycle management of products, including product launch, phase-out, incremental improvements, and line extensions

  • Continuous monitoring of products during entire life-cycle and initiation of necessary actions

  • Initiate and support product phase out process, working with all cross-functional partners

  • Support Regional Marketing and Sales with product and technical queries (including tender process support)

  • Coordinate and support country registrations

  • Attending and supporting trade fairs and exhibitions in the respective product segment

  • Organization and implementation of product training and education of the respective product segment

  • Provide product demonstrations as required to support customer and partner visits

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, Medicine, Science or related field required - MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus

  • 5+ years of Product Management, Project Management, or equivalent work experience, in the healthcare or IT industry is a plus

  • Product life cycle management with knowledge of marketing strategies and the ability to build, defend and execute an integrated marketing plan

  • Proven track record of successfully developing growth strategies and implementing product launches

  • Ability to analyze markets, competitors and business opportunities.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate product requirements, positioning, justification and ability to persuasively present to internal and external stakeholders at all levels (executives, R&D, customers, partners)

  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies is a plus

  • Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time and ability to travel internationally may also be required

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $112,000 to $216,000 plus an annual incentive bonus and equity target. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
