Senior Product Marketing Manager

Corvee is on a mission to ultimately help taxpayers legally reduce their taxes through what's called "tax planning."

No….this is not a copycat TurboTax product. Corvee does not file tax returns. We proactively look for ways to save taxpayers money in taxes (and yes, this is a new concept for most people…these tax strategies are hidden in the 70,000-page IRS code).

There are an estimated 20,000 tax planning strategies in the US, and we've got about 1,500 in our product today…and we are looking for someone to help us bring a new free trial product to market and ensure our messaging resonates with our target audience.

The Opportunity

Let's start with what you won't be doing…writing boring B2B messaging for sell sheets or white papers, nor working on a legacy product that is 20+ years old. Old-school product marketing tactics won't fly here. Being a hands-on player-coach is required. Experiments are welcome. Failures are encouraged (as long as we learn from them).

We are releasing a new product in the coming months that will expand our TAM significantly, and are looking for someone to own messaging across the entire customer journey from acquisition to adoption and retention.

All that being said…

No two days will be the same for the Senior Product Marketing Manager, but you'll be expected to:

  • Have a deep understanding of our target market's pain points and needs, what false beliefs they have and how we can drive user acquisition, product adoption, expansion and retention by using this information to the best of our ability. Regularly speak with customers and watch recorded video calls and product usage recordings to understand customer sentiment and challenges.
  • Develop and own messaging, positioning and value propositions for each of our products and services. Develop unique selling points that resonate with our target audience.
  • Develop customer segmentation and ideal customer profiles to better understand who the product serves, specific use cases, as well as which products and services make sense to market to each.
  • Write content for marketing materials including direct response, nurturing & adoption emails, ads, blogs, case studies, sales enablement materials, etc. Clearly communicate messaging and positioning to copywriters and growth marketing team. Oversee all messaging regardless of who writes it, and mentor writers to get to a more cohesive message, writing style and approach.
  • Though you will report to the marketing team, you will also be on the Product team working together daily. Understand the full functionality of our products and services as well as the product roadmap and GTM launch schedule to ensure successful product releases and updates. Ensure a bi-directional feedback loop is in place, be the marketing team's internal SME on product functionality and messaging. Drive alignment between marketing and product teams to ensure we're making cohesive and coordinated decisions.
  • Partner with Growth Marketing and Design teams to create a GTM strategy for each product, including messaging and positioning, distribution channels, segmentation, promotional activities and sales enablement material. Be the product team's internal SME on marketing positioning and GTM plans.
  • Partner with Product, Growth Marketing, and Sales teams to analyze full-funnel messaging performance by using product usage and adoption data, marketing performance data, and sales data. Use that data to refine strategy, improve results throughout the funnel and inform future product and marketing decisions.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

To be successful at Corvee, you should have the following:

  • Relevant experience and comparable past performance at a high-growth software company.
  • A proven track record of owning and being accountable for product marketing KPIs. Your accomplishments are data-driven.
  • An "All-in" or "We all mop the floors" mindset and skillset - willingness to write content regularly, deploy emails, learn a new system, work hand in hand with various team members, etc.
  • Ability to create crisp and compelling narratives; superb written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Self-directed, fast-paced, hardworking with a can-do attitude and desire to out-work and out-learn the competition.
  • Comfortable executing on strategy and content yourself (60% of the time), planning/outlining/reviewing other writer's content (25% of the time), and measuring messaging effectiveness (15% of the time).
  • Strong communication skills without fear of overcommunication. This role will require effective collaboration and cross-functional coordination across internal and external contributors with varying communication styles.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • You are able to use good judgment and reasoning skills to ensure you're putting forth the best possible work you can.
