Job Description


Dewberry is seeking a Market Intelligence Intern to join us remotely for the summer of 2024. The intern will report to the Market Intelligence Director and will engage in the exploration and analysis of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry to support the achievement of organizational strategic goals.


The Team


The role directly supports the Market Intelligence (MI) Program, but the individual will have a chance to work across the organization with multiple business units, marketing segment leaders, client managers, and more. The goal of this internship opportunity is to engage the candidate in developing the skills and attributes needed to become a confident market researcher. Interns will practice extracting industry insights, diving into competitor intelligence, and adapting to evolving client needs to better-inform managers and staff with strategic decision-making.


The team will work with the candidate to identify areas of interest they would like to learn more about, develop goals, and assign activities that support the candidate’s goals while achieving the MI program objectives. There will be opportunities to shadow and work on specific assignments.

The Market Intelligence Intern will participate in a variety of qualitative and quantitative research projects at local, federal, and state levels, facilitate scheduling and logistics of team meetings and activities, and contribute to refining team processes, systems, and practices. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Market Intelligence Director and MI Coordinator with research projects that build the companywide intelligence culture and assisting with strategic business decision-making.


This opportunity is well-suited for individuals with an interest in market research, analytics, national industry trends, data visualization for internal consumption, and policy and legislative tracking.


Responsibilities May Include


  • Market research assignments: compiling data from competitive intelligence and market analysis sources
  • Funding: Centralizing data and tracking sources of federal and state funding
  • Assisting with data management
  • Assisting with PowerPoint presentation development to ensure market research data is communicated in a concise and actionable manner
  • Writing and editing support


Requirements


Required Skills & Required Experience


  • Pursuing a B.S. or recent graduate in Business/Marketing, Economics, Policy, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a remote/hybrid setting
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, decision-making and problem-solving skills


Nice to Have


  • Experience in the AEC industry or government contracting.
  • Interest in our engineering and architecture market segments: water, transportation, energy, federal, community facilities, health and wellness, education, disaster response, resilience and climate change adaptation solutions, sustainability, real estate and commercial development, telecommunications and justice.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or Airtable and Microsoft Teams


Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 30 hours per week. Preference may be given to those available 30+ hours per week for a minimum of 15 weeks.
