Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting a Competitive Intelligence Specialist. The Competitive Intelligence Specialist provides specialized research and support to the Marketing & Business Development team and the firm at large in the areas of competitive and business intelligence and a broad range of industry and market research. Contributes to ongoing data quality initiatives involving data leveraged for competitive and business intelligence. Effectively applies research project criteria to identify the most relevant and actionable information.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Performs new and ongoing research in support of the firm’s legal practice, business development, and competitive advantage goals and market initiatives.
2. Researches, compiles, and analyzes data regarding industry and market trends and communicates findings clearly and concisely.
3. Stays abreast of competitive market strategies and activities in the legal market overall.
4. Monitors the suite of AmLaw and related publications and tracks trends, competitive positioning, and “peer” firms. Communicates to firm leadership regarding findings and breaking news.
5. Identifies economic, governmental, political and social trends, and assists in creating business intelligence reports of research findings for development and strategy meetings.
6. Maintains and enhances client data and other business intelligence in firm systems and external sources.
7. Performs advanced research and analysis of Firm business intelligence systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five years’ job related experience required, including internships, preferably in a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship-based organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Accurate typing, strong word processing skills, ability to generate a large volume of work and pay strict attention to detail. Excellent communication skills. Spelling, punctuation and use of grammar must be of high quality. Must exercise initiative in problem solving and be capable of making sound decisions in the absence of clear instructions and be multiple task oriented. Must have ability to train others and work efficiently and accurately. Must present a positive, professional image and show initiative to suggest or implement creative measures to benefit the firm. Ability to maintain flexibility regarding work assignments to work overtime on short notice required. Advanced knowledge of firm resources and procedures. Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions. Visual acuity needed for transcription, extensive reading and input (typing) of information into computer. Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication. Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must possess the abilities or aptitudes to proficiently perform each of the responsibilities and accountabilities described above, with or without reasonable accommodation.
