JOB TITLE Global Strategy and Market Intelligence Leader


Job Summary


As the Director of Strategy and Global Market Intelligence, you will lead our strategic planning process across the organization by synthesizing the input from different businesses, geographies and functional areas. You will combine market intelligence and data to develop a strategic plan that allows the organization to stay competitive and relevant in an evolving global landscape. The position manages business and market intelligence activities to strengthen the company’s ability to identify, anticipate and respond to customer, technological and competitive market trends. Through the leadership of a dynamic team and engagement across the enterprise, you will provide and leverage market intelligence and insights to help guide the strategic direction of the organization.


Essential Duties


  • Lead and facilitate the strategic planning process by collaborating across the enterprise to gather input and insights from different business areas, geographies, and functional areas.
  • Develop comprehensive business solutions and long-term strategies that are aligned with the organization’s growth and profitability objectives.
  • Responsible for gathering, analyzing and identifying market trends, diagnosing customer needs and behaviors, predicting likely competitive dynamics and analyzing the economics of the business to maximize a competitive advantage.
  • Generate data driven market, competitive and industry insights that help guide the organization to aligned strategic choices.
  • Create and communicate board level story presentations bringing together the strategies for communications and approvals across the organization and up to the parent company. Facilitate discussions with other divisions of Terumo Corporation on opportunities of mutual benefit.
  • Responsible for all corporate market research activities and collaboration across the business. This includes market assessment and forecasting, market tracking, data related to new product and new business development, ad hoc custom research, competitive intelligence, and third party vendors.
  • Drive synergy and implementation of key planning, strategic marketing and business development processes and tools across the organization. Develop tools, templates and guidelines used in the strategic planning process.
  • Lead Market Intelligence at a macro level across the organization, establishing links to comprehensive global, regional and Business Area perspectives. Manage a research database and centralized knowledge center for the corporation.
  • Develop market intelligence structure, tracking competitive and market analysis to provide a standardized process on research, market assessment and competitive analysis. Use data and analysis (internal and external) representing alternative paths to drive strategic choices.
  • Lead ad-hoc analyses and market research studies (e.g., route to market, profit pools, distributor economics, etc.) as requested.
  • Identify and develop data sources to provide a 360 degree view of the market landscape (patients, providers, payers, and regulators) to predict trends in market dynamics, competition, and customers.
  • Collaborate with customer segment leadership to evaluate business development opportunities and priorities. Understand product pipelines and roadmaps, and advise on potential opportunities to augment the business.
  • Identify and value white-space opportunities within the portfolio and work with Business Development as needed to assess possibilities involving third-parties.
  • Support the financial analysis and business case development of select initiatives and projects.
  • Manage and provide leadership for the functional group’s development, direction, and effectiveness, adhering to organizational policies and processes and supporting overall business and corporate objectives.


Minimum Qualification Requirements


Education


Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered. Advanced degree (PhD, MD or MBA) in an analytical field strongly preferred.


Experience


Minimum 12 years management experience with at least 5 years leading strategic and business intelligence initiatives in a healthcare industry with global responbility.


Experience In Medical Device Industry Is Strongly Preferred.


Marketing experience in the healthcare industry with understanding of customer needs and priorities.


Global experience with growth mindset lens.


Proven track record of successful implementation of business analytics tools within a regulated environment.

Target Pay Range: $181,700.00 to $227,200.00 - Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data


Target Bonus on Base: 30.0%
